A recap of the last week

So, I've been sick for the last 2 weeks. And haven't had any days of relief at all yet. That has made things a bit tough since we had a short-term team here with us this week. I started getting sick two weeks ago Thursday with a fever and cold, which has now turned into some sort of nasty cough, sinus congestion, earache, sore throat and no voice. I started taking antibiotics a couple of nights ago and am hoping that soon it will all kick in and I'll feel better and like myself again.

With being sick, I had a hard time making it through each day with the team this week. Our Olympics went great and everyone had a blast. We had a few little hiccups, but overall the whole Project had a blast. I played soccer with a team of young women from the city and we won gold in our age bracket. We had such a fun time. The day was great. The only awful part was that despite having sunscreen on, I got burnt to a crisp. I've never been so burnt. It was so bad that on Sunday I had to leave the barrio early and didn't go on Monday because my legs were so swollen and hurt that I could barely move. It was awful. And I hope that I never have to feel that bad again.

So other than a terrible sunburn and being sick, we had a good week. And spent our days in the barrios with the team. We had groups from 3 churches here working together. And I can only hope that they enjoyed themselves as much as our team members and barrios did. One of the coolest things to see was how everyone jumped in and helped in whatever way they could. We had a Christmas ornament craft that we did with our various women's groups. And one of the guys from Chandler named Eric, learned how to do the craft and helped lead it. He did it three or four times and the women just loved him and welcomed him in like he was family. It was pretty cool to see. It was also amazing to see how we had a few people from the city go with us on various days. They had never really gone and done things in the barrio before and they were blessed by it. And maybe now we will have more chances to minister to them because of how they ministered to their own people, in their own city.

I was blessed to see how God used everyone in various ways, based on their various gifts, to grow and bless the church here in Trujillo. Our God is truly an awesome God. And He is always at work, no matter what. And He is always ready and able to show Himself to those who are seeking. Just have to pay attention. :)

Now we are resting today and then tomorrow we are starting to undo everything we did prep wise two weeks ago before heading to Cajamarca next weekend for a mini-vacation. And then I'll get back to work on the picture project I'm doing for the team and preparing for the Christmas events we do for our barrios. Then before I know it... I'll be getting ready to head home. Hard to believe I have just 2 months left. Excited to see what God does in those 2 months and what things I have yet to learn.

The girls and I went to Absalon Vasquez one day and got to see Jenny killing, skinning and gutting a chan-cho (pig). Only in Peru!!!

Nicole and I with our boys, Fabian and Bruno :)

This is Kari. She came with the group (and reminds me a ton of my Aunt Amy). She met these gentleman in the Plaza de Armas. And they totally fell in love with her. :)
