Just a quick note --
So, it's Thursday, October 6, 2011 and we are finishing up the last minute details and prep work for a short-term team arriving on the 8th. We are also preparing to host our first ever Proyecto Nuevo Esperanza Olimpiadas (Olympics). I can't lie... I am excited to play soccer with the girls from the city church. But I am so ready for Saturday to be over. We have worked a lot the last two months to prepare for the Olympics and it's grown into a bit of headache. Not a terrible one. But it'll be nice to have the day to play and then move on to other things. :)
I am really excited for the team to arrive because they are bringing me care packages from home. I am excited to have letters from friends at school and Boy Scout popcorn from my brother to enjoy. It's going to be great and a wonderful piece of home to get me through the homestretch of my internship.
While I am super excited for pieces from home to arrive, I am also really excited for the team to be here because we are doing a bunch of different things this week. It's going to be a busy week full of encouraging our barrios, serving lunch to the elderly, loving on special needs kids and doing some much-needed construction work to better our churches and barrios. It's going to be pretty cool to see yet another group interact with the people here and see how GOD works to change the lives of many.
Please, be praying for our health (Dani and I are both sick with colds and coughs... and Mike is getting sick) as we can't afford to be feeling awful this coming week. And also, be praying that GOD shows up in big (and little) ways this week. I'll update after the team leaves with pictures and stories of the week.
¡Dios te bendiga!
