1 year of ministry...
Spence and I are coming up on our one year anniversary at the church. A year ago today we were here in town for our big visit... The one where we were introduced officially to everyone in the church and had events all weekend to meet various groups of people, as well as to tour the town. We weren't married yet. But we were only a month and a half way from that big day. And we were anxious and excited about being officially voted in and offered the position as youth minister at FCC. We had to wait one more week til we got that word. But a year ago today marks the day where it all really started and fell in place for us to begin our married and ministry life together here.
In the last year we have experienced a lot. We have experienced highs and lows, heartaches and joys, old houses and new apartments, new jobs and new friends, hard jobs and homesickness and so much more. But we have walked through it all together and come through it stronger. At least I think so anyway. And I honestly wouldn't want to live this life with anyone other than Spence. He truly is my best friend and teammate in life. We do everything together (all but his schoolwork) and I can't imagine having it any other way. I love being his wife and his ministry partner. I love being his confidant and his best friend. I love being in his life and having him in mine.
And I love that we have made it through our (technically his) first year of ministry and that in just a short month and half we will have made it through our first year of marriage. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year at FCC. It's hard to believe that we have come so far in the ministry and with friendships. It's strange to think about just how much can happen in a year. But yet it definitely wouldn't have been so good or full of growth for us if it wasn't for the GOD we have chosen to serve and love. He is the one who has guided us and opened doors for us. He is the one who has provided for us and challenged us. He is the one who has proven faithful time and time again in the last year. And He is the one that we owe everything to.
1 year ago today marks a big day in the life of Spencer and I. It marks the day where we stepped out into the world of ministry and committed to serving a big GOD as a team. It marks the day where we opened our lives to and stepped into the lives of a crazy, fun-loving, committed, full of potential church family. It marks the day where our lives changed and ministry became even more real to us.
Here's to 1 year of ministry and countless years to come!
