Missions Weekend and I'm sick...
Yes, the time has come! Our church is having it's first ever Missions Fair this weekend. Set-up is tomorrow and the fair, complete with a potluck lunch, is on Sunday starting at 9am with Sunday School. Out of our 15+ organizations or missionaries that we support, 9 of them are sending representatives and the rest will have booths set up that our missions team will be taking care of. I am super excited. We (Spence and I) are having a missionary by the name of Matt from PBT stay with us tonight and tomorrow. And a missionary family from Poland is staying with the Haines gang tomorrow. We are all getting together tomorrow night at the Haines' for dinner. I'm making 2 big pans of my mama's lasagna and 2 loaves of homemade bread. Robin is going to make salad and dessert. It's going to be a great night I think. I am looking forward to the fellowship, the stories and the encouragement that we will all be able to be a part of this weekend.
But the only down-side is that I am getting sick. Not sure what's going on or just how long this is going to last. But I woke up this morning with a real bad sore throat and as the day went on light-headedness, burning/watery eyes and an upset stomach settled in. I've been laying on the couch since I got home from work. Hopefully, a good night's rest will help me feel better and that by tomorrow night I will be good to go.
I am excited for this weekend. I hope that it is an encouragement to our missionaries and an eye-opener to our congregation. I am hoping that this can become the first step that our church takes to becoming more than just a check-sending church, but rather a church that literally partners and stands beside the missionaries we support 100%. I hope that GOD will use this weekend to open some eyes, touch some hearts and get people taking some steps forward.
Here's to a weekend for missions!
