I have heard...

Well, I am writing today for a number of reasons.

One of those reasons includes the news that I officially have a job!!!! With the possibility of a second one coming soon!! I start working at Walgreens this coming Saturday. It's not my dream job, obviously. But it's something. It'll be good for me to have something to curb my boredom and also to be able to really knock out my loans as fast as possible. Spence has been doing so much with working and being a student. And he is been great about making sure we do as much as we can to get my loans paid off. But it's time for me to get working on them too. And hopefully within the next year (two at the most), we will be able to celebrate those loans being done and I can go back to searching for a job that really suits me. One that I can be excited and passionate about. But for now... Walgreens it is. And I am grateful because I honestly was beginning to go crazy.

Another reason I am writing (and really the more important reason) is that I have once again been touched by Scripture and how GOD reveals His character. I have finished the book of Genesis and am now in Exodus (as well as still in Matthew). And today I read chapters 6, 7 and 8.... the beginning of God's delivering Israel from Egypt. Now, this isn't the first time I have read Exodus or even this story in particular. I can't even count how many times I have read it. But nonetheless, I was once again touched by something that we tend to always just read over. And that is.......

GOD revealing Himself as Yahweh (LORD) and a GOD who keeps His promises.

This picture is from my Bible. And shows just a part of how I like to interact with the words. And obviously the idea of GOD being Yahweh is one that really stood out to me as I was reading today. I don't even know why it stood out. I just know that it did. And I know that part of it is in connection to what I wrote a few posts ago in regards to faith and trying to have faith that somehow, someway GOD would provide a job for me. And He did. He heard me. The way He heard the people of Israel. He showed Himself to be GOD. A faithful, promise-keeping, compassionate GOD. He showed Himself to Israel and He showed Himself yet again to me. And I am so very grateful.

The final reason I am writing today is to give you another glance into the world and how you can pray for it. Thanks again to my copy of OPERATION WORLD, I am now praying for my 4th country... the MALDIVES. And let me tell you there are a lot of interesting things to learn and pray about. So here are just a few...

FACTS:
~ The MALDIVES are made up of 1200 islands and only 202 of those islands are inhabited.
~ There are 313,920 people living on those 202 islands
~ Islam is the main religion (over 99% of the population are believed to be Muslim)
~ Religious freedom is non-existent
~ The Maldivians are among the least reached of the world

THINGS TO PRAY FOR:
~ Religious freedom
~ Government leaders to be won to Christ so that the ugly hatred towards Christianity will be lifted
~ People to rise up and commit to praying for this country
~ For the believers there to be made strong and united to withstand the persecution
