My siblings - part 1: Brothers

So last fall I wrote a couple of specific posts. One about my mom and one about my dad. I am going to write two about my siblings and my niece. Now, it's going to be long because I have 8 siblings (5 by birth, 1 by marriage and 2 by "adoption"). So I think what I am going to do is write one for my sisters (and include my niece in it) and one for my brothers. That way it doesn't take an hour to write/read. So here ya go. My brothers. :)

Brandon- brother by marriage:
He is pretty much the greatest brother-in-law anyone could ask for. He married my older
sister, Aaryn, a couple of years ago. At first, I wasn't his biggest fan. But now I love him just as much as I love my little brother, Joshua. He is one of the most loving, protective, hard-working men you could ever meet. And he takes care of his family. He loves and provides for my sister and their daughter in a self-less way. He knows that as a husband and a father his first responsibility is to his family. He also loves us girls like none other. He always tells us that he loves us and wishes he could always protect us and take care of us. Much the same way as our dad does. One of my favorite things about him is that we aren't just family by marriage to him. We are family period. There are no lines between us saying that we aren't fully family in his mind. That is incredible. He married my sister, but he became a part of the Holley family in every way possible. He is awesome. His laugh is a booming laugh and cracks me up every time I hear it. I am so proud of him and the work he is putting in at RIT to get his degree in something computer something something. I forget exactly what it is. But he loves it and is doing a great job. Making us all very proud of him. I love him and wish I was able to see him more than just once a year. But he is my brother no matter what.

Joshua- brother by birth:
Oh what can I say about my brother Joshua? Other than that he is awesome? He is my little brother, but is taller and way bigger than I am. He is almost 6 foot already and has a six pack and 12 inch arms. He is 13 and looks and acts as though he was 16. He talks like a man, not a little boy. And it's so hard to see how much he is growing up and how much I am missing out as I live 4 hours away. He is a perfect gentleman and has a great deal of respect for others. He is a good hard worker and loves baseball. He is a boy scout and is working towards his Eagle. He makes me so proud. His faith is growing and inspiring to me and our entire family. He wants to be a Marine with everything in him. And that scares me. Makes me worry. But I know that God will protect him if thats what he chooses to do. My little brother is my hero in every way. And I can't imagine life without him.

Dustin- brother by "adoption":
Dustin just recently became like a brother to me. I met Dustin when he was 5 years old and as ornery as could be. His parents (Rob and Linda) asked me to babysit him and became my little shadow for the years that followed, up until I moved away to Iowa. He is an incredible young man, very much like his dad. He loves music and can play 14 instruments and sing. I went and saw him play at the county fair last fall and it was such a blast. He is respectful, kind, loving and fun. Even though I haven't been around him much, I have loved watching from a distance as he has grown up. He is a young man that dreams and works hard. One that has a faith that is inspiring and encouraging. And he is a young man who always wants to be a comfort when something is going wrong. I have talked about how his parents kind of "adopted" me and since I consider them my "second family," he is my brother in my mind. And I love him.

My brothers are a group of men (since their not little anymore... especially Joshua and Dustin) that I admire, love, respect and miss a ton. They are blessings to me and make me smile even when I don't want to. They are the best brothers anyone could ask for and I honestly wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. My life wouldn't be complete without them. And that's the honest truth. They are my heroes.
