For our honeymoon, My Love and I spent a week at a cabin up in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. It was a gorgeous place and quickly made it into my top 5 favorite places in the US. We slept in in the mornings, laid around, played lots of Scrabble and did a lot of hiking and exploring. We spent an entire day hiking one of the trails near the cabin, another day driving to some of the historical sites and hot springs and yet another day at one of the lakes doing more hiking. It was seriously great.

On our last full day at the cabin, we decided to drive a little ways to Redfish Lake to do some hiking and maybe grab some food. When we got there we learned that you could take a short boat ride to the end of the lake and hike at the base of the mountains and then either hike the trail back around or be picked up at a scheduled time.
Well, My Love really wanted to do that. And well, I hate boats. Like, I am deathly afraid of them and have absolutely no desire to be on one. I reluctantly agreed to go because I knew it was something he really wanted to do. We climbed on the boat and I held onto his hand tighter than I ever have before. I looked down the entire time and was shaking as we walked onto the dock.

| seriously... soo clear! |
After I settled down a bit and My Love got feeling back in his hand, we hit the trails. We didn't go too far just because we wanted to keep an eye out for the boat. But we did take lots of pictures, walk across a cool little bridge and of course, stuck our feet into the glacier fed lake. Umm... talk about cold! My toes were instantly frozen. But it was the clearest, cleanest lake I had ever seen in my life. It was seriously gorgeous.
We eventually got back to the dock and made our way back to the beach and lodge. We went into the little souvenir shop and I got a big cozy sweatshirt. We sat in the rocking chairs for a bit just taking in the view and then we headed back to the cabin. The drive was gorgeous as we watched the sun begin to set. And then just before we got to the cabin we decided to pull off into the little country church. We got to go in and it was beautiful. Small and simple with an incredible bay window looking out onto the fields and the mountains. My Love stood in the pulpit pretending to preach and we day-dreamed about living somewhere close to or in the mountains. It was a great way to bring our day to an end.

view behind the pulpit... I wouldn't be able to pay attention to the sermon with that view behind the preacher. Just sayin' |
That week was definitely one of the best of my life. I loved having limited contact with the outside world and not having to fight against school or ministry for My Love's attention. I loved being able to just go through our day with no real plan or goal of things to get done. And I especially loved being able to enjoy God's beautiful creation with My Love by my side (even if he did make me go on a scary boat).
These will be fond memories for you to look back on.
