Christmas 2013
The new year has come and gone. The first week of 2014 has already passed. It came and went quietly. Or as quietly as 280+ junior high and high school students at a lock-in can be (not quietly at all). It came and went leaving behind the lovely gift of 10+ inches of snow and frigid temperatures leaving me shivering despite all of my layers. It came and went with 2 snow days guaranteeing me time to do puzzles, watch football and play a game with My Love. It came and went in the blink of an eye just like Christmas and the entire year of 2013.
Christmas was amazing this year. Honestly, it was probably one of the best Christmas' I can remember (not that we've ever had a bad Christmas). All of the original 8 Holley's were home plus Grandma, the husbands and daughter. We had 13 people around our table for most of our meals. We had 13 people in our family picture adventure in the snow and at the Marriott (where we saw the real Santa Claus! Not even joking!). We had 12 (this was the one night Grandma didn't come over) people curled up on the couches and floor watching The Little Rascals and quoting in-sync with each character. We had 12 people opening presents and laughing at mama's gift of plastic bag holders to us married girls (seriously, best present ever!). We had 13 people scattered throughout the house watching Doctor Who, playing Pandemic, putting a puzzle together or just sitting and watching the craziness of our family. We had 13 people figure out who killed Brandon at our Murder Mystery Dinner. We had our family together and it made this Christmas perfect.
Being home with my family is my favorite thing in the world, next to serving Jesus with My Love. I love the relationships I have with my siblings and I love watching as my mommy and daddy just shake their heads or escape to a quiet corner to just watch us and our craziness. I love talking late into the night with my mama when everyone else has gone to bed and being encouraged by her wisdom and love for our family. I love curling up on the couch with my daddy while getting caught up on the adventures of Doctor Who and stealing his space heater. I love playing with Gozo Puppy and making Christmas surprises with my sisters for our parents. I love watching My Love learn to play a new game with Brandon and then become determined to win it by the end of the week (we now have bought "Lords of the Waterdeep" and have played it 3 times in the last week... he is beating me 2 games to 1). I love listening to my niece ask random questions or burst in laughter at random times when she is watching Youtube videos with her earbuds in. I love watching my brother and littlest sister as they have now grown-up and become real joys to be around. I love watching my Grandma learn how to play a new game with us. I simply love being with my family.
After it being a year full of change and craziness for my family, I am so glad that Christmas 2013 was so wonderful and so perfect. I am grateful for the husband, family and life that GOD has blessed me with. They are my best friends, my biggest supporters, my tried and true heros. I can't imagine my life without them.
