Absalon Vasquez -- Speechless

Last week I wrote about Absalon Vasquez and the tragedy that has struck there. I returned yesterday to see for myself just how bad it is. I found out (and saw) that 120+ houses were demolished. Some of the people have built straw shacks in an effort to have some protection from the cold wind that wips up from the ocean (it's only about a mile to the west from here). And some are now trying to figure out a way to buy the land so they can rebuild their homes. It's pretty awful to watch the children playing in the rubble and the parents scavenging through looking for anything they may have left behind. Here are some of the pictures I took. They speak for themselves.
