Day 5 - Training completed
So, I have now been on this internship adventure for five days. My first day was all travel (see that story below). Day two was spent at the hotel and trying to remain somewhat calm knowing that come day three my family would leave and I would be on my own. The last three days have been spent at Emerald Hills (the home office for Team Expansion) in a small classroom around a table with three other interns and various Team Expansion staff. Training was good. Very long, but good. I felt bad because there were sections of it that were very repetitive and not new to me since I have taken missions courses for the last three years at Lincoln. But I kept reminding myself that it's always good to be reminded of things learned in the past. And as my professor Rob would say, "Go over and over it so that the squeegee at the door doesn't get it and you forget everything." So, despite being kinda boring and not new for me, I made the most of it and did my best to remember what it was for and why I was there.
With being a small group of interns, the four of us had a good time and got to know each other pretty well. We are all going to different countries to work with different teams in different ways. And it was cool to be able to spend time talking about training and ways that we can support and encourage each other from our respective host countries. I know that God is going to do some pretty awesome things in and through them as they finish preparing and then leave.
The day has come. Tomorrow I leave. And I am once again shaking, sick and freaking out. I am so scared to be doing this on my own, without a team to travel with. And pray with everything in me that nothing happens while I am traveling. I know that God will be with me. But it's not quite the same as having a brave and fearless leader to watch as you walk through security and customs and to the bus. But I suppose I have to do it. And do it I must. Everyone at the office has been funny as they all found out that I leave tomorrow. Most interns come for training and then go back home for a couple more months. Not me. I did things differently. But they were all supportive and encouraging which was helpful and a for sure blessing.
I leave tomorrow and so this will be my last post from the States. I have about 20 hours of travel time and then will join up with the team on Friday night after resting and getting settled in. I will post something on here as soon as I can to let everyone know that I made it. And will also call my parents and boyfriend and they can help pass it along to everyone.
Thank you for all of your prayers and encouragement. Please, don't stop. I will need it until the day I return to the States. To the right of the screen I will post updated prayer requests and praises for you to look at and keep in mind. Once again. Thank you for everything. I love you all and am so blessed and excited to share this adventure with you.
17.5 hours til take off. Here we go.
