I love...

One of my favorite adoptive, missions-minded, blogging mama's wrote a post about one of her favorite authors and books. Wynne Elder of Gloriously Ruined wrote about a phrase that Shauna Niequist wrote in her book Bread and Wine. I myself have not read it... yet. But Wynne's post about it really made me stop, think and long to write a similar post. So here it is....

Shauna Niequist wrote,
"One of the ways we grow up is by declaring what we love."

Wynne wrote out her beautiful love-list and then challenged her readers to declare what we love. And that challenge is what made me sit and think about what it is I love. What is it that my heart is drawn to? What is it that defines how and who I love? How and where do others see that I love? What do others see that I love? What is it that I give my heart to?

I love traveling overseas.

I love learning about new cultures and new languages.

I love spending time with and loving on little children.

I love music and singing while I do laundry or clean my house (that is when my husband isn't around of course).

I love learning, reading and writing.

I (am learning to) love cooking and sharing a meal with others.

I love encouraging people.

I love missionaries.

I love Ecuador.

I love orphans.

I love justice.

I love purpose.

I love words.

I love smiles, kisses and giggles from my babies at work.

I love pictures, letters, gifts and prayers.

I love being a wife, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend.

I love doing ministry with my husband.

I love being apart of the Church.

I love the Man that God sent to save me... Jesus - my Lord, my Savior, my Creator, my Redeemer, my Master.

I want to be a person who is known for how she loves. I want to be a person that others can watch and know what and who it is I love. What and who it is that has my heart. I want to declare every day with my words and actions what I love. What about you? What is it you love? Go ahead. Think about it. And then declare it.
